Kalamazoo KM-12 (Oriole) Mandolin

Kalamazoo KM-12 (Oriole) Mandolin    SOLD

History: This is a Gibson made Kalamazoo KM-12 or Oriole mandolin. This one is most likely a 1940 mandolin since it doesn’t have the Oriole decal and it has the fancy fiddleback Maple sides and back.

These are outstanding mandolins and while the price has begun rising on Kalamazoo’s they can still be purchased well below comparable Gibson instruments.

This one has gorgeous flame maple back and sides, an ebony fretboard, nearly perfect original finish and comes with the original soft shell case. It is one of a pair of Oriole mandolins that I bought from Cremer Custom Guitar Works in Auroroa, IL. Rick is the best set up man I’ve ever come across and frequently will sell me some project or other that he hasn’t had time to get around to.  I have yet to start on the companion mandolin to this one, but hope to have out up for sale sometime next year.  Inquire if interested.

Work Done: Glued separated back, glued loose brace, replaced deteriorated tuner buttons, replaced non original bridge, reproduced original pickguard, set up instrument.
